Hou, Zhe (侯哲)– A National Class B Actor, Mr. Hou is a graduate of the Shanghai School for Traditional Theatre. He specializes in the clown (chou 丑) role type. He has performed leading roles in plays including “The Reluctant Bridegroom,” “The Kite Mishap,” “The Hairpin and the Bracelet,” and “Fifteen Strings of Cash,” as well as in highlight scenes such as “Leaving the Mountain,” “Reed Woods,” “Public Shaming Parade,” “Lunatic Monk Confronting Qinhui, the Treacherous Court Official,” “Borrowing Tea,” “At a Lakeside Pub-Restaurant,” and “Visit to the Love-sick.” He has won awards including the “New Orchid Buds Award” in the First Youth Kunqu Showcase, the Outstanding National Youth Kunqu Performance Award and the Top Ten Theses Award.
