Hu Weilu

Hu, Weilu (胡维露) – A National Class B Actor, Ms. Hu is a graduate of the Shanghai School for Traditional Theatre. She specializes in the young male (jingsheng 巾生 ) role type. She has performed leading roles in plays including “The Jade Hairpin,” “The Peony Pavilion,” “Love at First Sight,” and “Romance of the Western Chamber,” as well as highlight scenes such as “Escape by Boat,” “Wang Shipeng Facing His Mother,” “Writing a Petition,” and “Princess Florets Bestowing Her Sword.” In 2012, Ms. Hu formally became an apprentice to kunqu master Zhengren Cai in a ceremony devoted to “Masters Passing on Art: Contemporary Kunqu Master Taking on Apprentices and Passing on the Kunqu Art.” In 2014, Ms. Hu won the New Talent Award in the Shanghai New Plays Competition with the play “Love at First Sight.”
