Zhang Jiqing

Zhang Jiqing(張繼青)is a member of Kunqu Troupe of Jiangsu and a Class A kunqu theater actor certified by the Chinese Government.  Ms. Zhang is one of the premiere performers in Chinese classical theater. A winner of the prestigious Plum Blossom Award, she is renown for her exceptional vocal technique. Ms. Zhang is generally recognized as the “Peony” of Kunqu theatre for her powerful performances of the heroine Du Liniang in The Peony Pavilion. Her portrayal of Cui Shi, one of her most famous role, in The Rotten-Helve Mountain at the Smithsonian Associates in 2000 marks her first appearance in the United States.
